Dave Brandon
HHC Founder, Webmaster, & Columnist -

avebrandon@huskerhoopscentral.com

Dave Brandon is the Founder and Webmaster of Husker Hoops Central, creating the site in August of 2005.

Brandon, 27, is a published fiction writer, and besides his work with HHC, has also written sports journalism for Royals Corner (covering Kansas City Royals baseball), Scout.com & the Daily Nebraskan.

Besides writing, Brandon also began his career in the media while at Nebraska, and already has ten years of commercial broadcast experience under his belt. He has interacted with and interviewed a wide variety of individuals during his career, and lists his five favorites as James Earl Jones, Cheech Marin, Britney Spears, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Owen Wilson.

While he has a clear passion for the media, Brandon’s number one love is Nebraska basketball, which led to him creating HHC and promoting Nebraska basketball in a way that has never been seen prior to the sites launch.

“I get asked all the time where the idea for this site came from,” Brandon says. “And the truth is that I started this website after a tough breakup with a long-term girlfriend. I had some extra time on my hands and absolutely needed something to throw myself into, and I came up with the idea on the fly late one night. I never expected it to grow as it has, and to have people such as Beau Reid, Bruce Chubick, Matt Coatney and Karen Jennings on the staff so quickly. I definitely feel blessed everyday to be a part of this and do what I can to spread my passion for Nebraska basketball through our coverage.”

While Brandon never played basketball competitively past his teenage years, he has a clear love for the sport, and coaches YMCA youth basketball in his spare time. He also sports one of the most impressive Husker Hoops memorabilia collections around, and jokes that his first son will be named Beau Reid Brandon.

Brandon is currently single.
