THE SERIES HISTORY:

Texas holds a commanding lead in the overall series with Nebraska (14-4), including a perfect 9-0 in Austin and 6-0 at the Erwin Center.

Last year, the Huskers lost a heartbreaker to the Longhorns at the Devaney Center by the score of 62-61, as Kevin Durant put in 26 points and A.J. Abrams 14.

For Nebraska, Marcus Perry poured in 17 points on 5-9 shooting from downtown while Aleks Maric scored 15 points to go along with 12 rebounds.

Nebraska will be looking for its first ever win in Austin, and its first victory over the Longhorns since 2000-2001 season, when the Huskers defeated then #22 Texas 80-67 at the Devaney Center.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

HHC Webmaster Dave Brandon:

If Nebraska ever had nothing to lose and everything to gain, its Tuesday night at Texas, as not only have the Huskers never won in Austin, but they’re likely again playing without the services of Cookie Miller. Plus, Texas is coming off of a loss, and is too good of a team to lose back-to-back games.

D.J. Augustin leads the Longhorns, and is likely the best point guard in America. Add in the outstanding A.J. Abrams and Damion James, along with the deadly shooting Connor Atchley, and you have your hands full on defense.

Thus, Nebraska’s only chance at making this game a 40-minute contest is by shooting 50% from the field and keeping turnovers below 13. I just don’t think its realistic for the Huskers to shut down Texas in the same fashion they have with other recent Big 12 foes, so they’ll have to score 70 points to be in contention to win this game.

Will they do it? Not likely.

Texas 78, Nebraska 61.
